In Luke 15, the Parable of the Lost Sheep, you see that there is more love for the lost sheep when it is found and more love for the prodigal son when he returned. When you’ve loved the Lord before and backslide, the Lord knows you.

The Psychology of Backsliding

What is the psychology of those who backslide? Proverbs 23:7 tells us, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Backsliding is a heart matter that starts from the mind.

A thought in the heart becomes an attitude. An attitude becomes an action. Action becomes a behavior pattern. Behavior pattern becomes a lifestyle.

BACKSLIDING: The Principal Causes of Backsliding Part 2

There are some principle causes of why people stop following God. They include shallowness, emptiness, lust, bitterness or unforgiveness, and sinfulness.

 

You will hear the teaching on the Prodigal Son from Luke 15. He had everything and he walked away from the Lord. Contrast that with Job who had everything and still followed the Lord and never turned his back from the Lord

 

Think of all the sins that the Lord rescued from and repent. Like the Prodigal Son, God will deliver you and make you whole.

 

The Lord is bringing you close in spite of the Shallowness, Emptiness, Lust, Bitterness, and Sinfulness. The Lord is filling you up today with fresh oil. Listen and get wisdom today!

BACKSLIDING: The Principal Causes of Backsliding Part 1

When you feel that you’ve been far from the Lord, it’s not too late to come back. In this special International Sunday message you will hear a message about having staying power.

 

Luke 15:20 reads, “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”  Once you make the decision in your heart to return to the Father, God immediately begins the process of embracing you.

 

When you confess your sins to the Lord, no matter how great that sin may be, the Lord will forgive you and take you in such that you’ll never backslide or left behind when the Rapture comes. Luke 15 v 21

BIBLICAL DESCRIPTION of BACKSLIDING

In this Sunday’s message we were learn about the Biblical description of Backsliding. Backsliding happens when those committed to God (a born-again Christian) falls into the trap of the devil and allows the things of this world to separate them from God.

 

Every Christian is prone to backsliding, your relationship with God is always threatened by the devil. Just like a marriage needs time, communication, intimacy and closeness so must the relationship of God with his people. Nothing good comes from separation from God. Adam and Eve were separated from God because they listened to the devil more instead of the voice of God- “faith comes by hearing” Romans 10:17.

 

Backsliding is subtle process, so let us recognize symptoms of the disease. Assess yourself! We need more praying, more counsel, more of the word of God, and more love for God to escape the trap. Listen in and be fed with knowledge and gain understanding from the teachings of God!
